We've been very fortunate to have Andrew D'Addessio, aka Fatbag join our development team. This means that, at least unofficially, NIOTSO has been merged with Project Dollhouse.
Being a genius, Andrew is very good at doing stuff he's never done before, so he's volunteered to write a bloom shader for the map view to make it look more like pre-alpha. He's also said that he wants to work on fadiing animations, which he's definitely sure he can do :D

No, sorry, I said maybe one day I'd have enough knowledge to write a bloom shader, water renderer, and weather effects, but I didn't say I have time to join the Project Dollhouse team right now. I have to go back to studying for my summer class and my signal processing project.

Bloom shaders aren't exactly among the most well received post processing effects... If you work on something like that, remember to consider not overdoing it!

Well... I know this topic is old but I would like to know if this merger will be someday or will be never ? and also know if Fatbag will be finaly close the website of Niotso Project (Edith : http://niotso.org/ and http://wiki.niotso.org/) which are spirited to moldy and takes the dirt over time without news(without wishing to be annoy or insolent) ?
Edith : I know that Fatbag to stop working on Niotso project, that why wonder if he going to close the websites of project or not.)

The wiki is still used as it contains vital project information. the niotso site contains some interesting history too - since it's the only other project that actually managed anything substantial that wasn't just a few screens duplicated in visual basic. Concerning the merger, I've always been more a fan of the name NIOTSO over Project Dollhouse. js

I am of same opinion about the name, NIOTSO sounds better than Project Dollhouse, it easier to understand what game it targets.

I also think that NIOTSO is a better name than Project Dollhouse. It's more catchy, Dollhouse sounds like a kind of secret project to take over the world or something.

Well, the project is kinda somewhat secret with the help of it's name. Probably not to draw too much attention like TSOR infamously did.

Project Dollhouse was actually one of the codenames for the original The Sims :p

lol....actually there was that tv show by Josh Whedon called "Dollhouse" where they had the ability to store peoples personalities and memories on hardrives and imprint them on people while their brains were in a "idle sleep mode" in a chair. They could send them on secrets missions and stuff and not remember what they did when they came back until they started to go crazy and develop bi-polar disorders and such, it was entertaining for the "season" it lasted. So maybe it does fit the game better since we choose actions and moods to carry out for our "idle" sim. :D
