Hello, guys! I just found out about this project and I am amazed. I hope you will resurrect this awesome game. EA Games were using FFN fonts for their older games. and that's the case with The Sims, too. I'd need someone to figure out the format and create an editing tool (attachment's below). The Sims Online switched to TTF fonts, but I believe it still uses FFN for Russian. Anyway, would you consider adding a Unicode support so that Cyrillic characters and some special Latin ones can be displayed correctly in-game? Thank you in advance!
Hi, welcome! You should check out the translation post in the General forum I know there are a few graphics designers here, hopefully they will help add the missing characters!
For font rendering right now, we currently prerender to sprite fonts that are distributed with our client. Because of this, inclusion of extra character sets will make the spritefont huge, so we might need to look into another solution. Cyrillic can be rendered with our current setup, the compiler will probably just choose the first sans-serif windows font it can find that supports it.
I actually already work with the same problem, and asked about it many months ago. And 'modified' fonts doesn't show Russian letter 'я'.
A user from another forum managed to figure out this format and he posted PNG images. It's from the game EA SPORTS Cricket 07, but fonts from The Sims shouldn't be any different. Can anyone of you crack the FFN files and share a tool for editing them? I would greatly appreciate it.
Did this person post any format information for the ffn files? A format description would be a good starting point.
Here it is. Image data can be edited and saved with the plugin, but other data is unknown (probably references to individual characters etc.). Can you guys figure it out?
