If anybody played in Alphaville like me, you may remember SimsOnlineMan. Yes, the lovable party hopping superhero. Well, that was me. I saw Riley in another post, I remember you. =)

Honestly, it's been so long I can't say I remember my characters name! I believe it would be Stormy, or Tempest Stormy, and I was a pizza maker, haha.

I remember your house, I think. I visited AV with a throwaway sim a few times. I was DanaKate in Interhogan, Samwise Gamgee in East Jerome, and Willow in Blazing Falls. Also Dr. Watson, but I forget which city I built Baker Street in. Maybe Mt. Fuji? My partner was Fox Mulder, Frodo Baggins, Spike, and Sherlock Holmes depending on the city. We also hung out with our friend Jess/Pippin/Mrs. Hudson. :)

Oh, and we were Gomez and Morticia Addams in Test Center. I remember Jess was Wednesday.

OMG I knew I recognized your name Rain Cloud!! I saw your name but couldn't place where I knew it from now I do! lol
I was part of AV but unfortunately I cant remember what my name was. I believe it was Lostmortal when I was in AV. Then when I moved my sim to BF changed it to Patrick Salvatore.

one of the reasons the origial TSo may have failed is the internet wasnt as robust as it is now, i remember playing on dial up and that was probably an issue for a lot of players.

I mostly think it happened for a number of reasons.

    1) Dial up
    2) Sims 2 has come out. Had better graphics, more options, just no online play.
    3) TSO had a good chunk where it got literally no updates minus the yearly holiday ones.
    4) By the end of TSO/EA-land sims 3 was already announced and people knew it was coming.
    5) When EA-land was announed and all they added was ATM's (spend real money for sim money), and the ability to add custom objects after they got approved. Then stopped all updates again. Doom was abound!
    6) Game needed to stay competitive with sims 2/3 a whole graphics update. Which we all knew was not coming.

But mostly pick you poison any number of those 6 lead to its down fall. Had it gotten more updates in EA-land to keep interest and bring in new people. Maybe it would of stayed. Had it gotten massive graphic update and look like sims 3. Maybe that would of worked as a "co-launch" along with Sim 3. Had better marketing. Regular updates to keep the "regulars" around longer instead of a good 4 or 5 year drought basically. Might have worked to. Who knows. Maybe it was doomed from the start when it had mixed reviews, and mostly bad press.

I played the last week or so before TSO was shut down.

Some kind woman let me be her roommate that week and showed me the ropes. I wish I remembered her name.
