Why shouldn't you be able to boot Linux from USB on a Mac?! It's just another computer. It's not necessary to use BootCamp and install Windows or Linux since FSO is able to run on OS X when you have MonoGame installed.

You don't need to request access, there is no server that is online 24/7. The servers are hosted by normal user like you, in fact you could open up a "server" yourself.
