Yes, when you log in, it'll check your version compared to the newest and update you if you're on an older version. So, as long as you register tomorrow and just log on normally, it should bring you to the newest version (if there are any newer versions) and you'll be able to play fine :)

If you just want to start again, delete everything and then, if you download the JD installer (global server install utility) from http://play.freeso.net/, you should just be able to install that and you'll have everything.

We'll never lose the files as plenty of people have them now but it'll be a lot harder to distribute the game if they stopped hosting it. However, some one found another version on the wayback machine of TSO so that could always be a potential backup if the one hosted on EA servers goes down.
