For the robot factory, you need to go inside first, before the robots start rolling out. You can't do that by clicking the ground and selecting "go here" as of right now, so try clicking on a lamp (or another object that has some kind of interaction which requires walking to it) and turning it...

Try retiring your old sim and creating a new one to enter the city with.

There's probably a lot of Bob on Bob kissing action happening right now lol
