"Help! My FreeSO crashes to a blank screen/random graphics card error!"

Does FreeSO crashes after opening it? That's because your graphics card doesn't support all OpenGL features FreeSO needs.

The best way to fix this issue is by updating your graphics card driver, to update it, search on Google "*your graphics card name* driver", most of the times it will be the first google result. If your computer/laptop has a internal graphics card driver, search on Google "*your computer/laptop model* drivers", if it is a known brand (Dell, Sony, Acer...) the drivers will be on their website, download the graphics driver and install it.

If even after updating your graphics card doesn't fix the issue, you can still try changing the FreeSO video renderer to DirectX 11, here's how:

1. Create a shortcut to FreeSO.exe, the most easy way is by right clicking the FreeSO icon and clicking on "Send to... -> Desktop (Create shortcut)"

This will create a shortcut on your desktop. After doing this, go to your desktop.

2. Right click the created FreeSO shortcut on your desktop and click on "Properties", after clicking, a window will popup.

See that "Target:" text? We will edit that.

Add -dx11 (yes, "-dx11" without quotes) after the " in the Target text, after adding, click on "Apply" and "Ok".

Now, open FreeSO by using THE SHORTCUT.

If that worked for you? Great! Have fun!

If that didn't work... Well, prepare for a trip to your nearby computer store because your computer is too old.

If you need to run "FSO.IDE.exe" (The FreeSO + Volcano IDE, for editing/creating objects ingame), do the same thing, but create a shortcut for "FSO.IDE.exe" instead of "FreeSO.exe" ;)

I hope this tutorial helped you :)
