Installation not completing

Hey all,

So I download the FreeSO Launcher just fine and that installs; I then hit 'complete installation' and it downloads the files into the correct directory and seems to work. However when I the try to play or launch the sims online it tells me that I need to install it first. Going back to the installation section, it says that I need to install the correct .NET framework, when I try to install that it says that 4.6 or later is already installed on my computer.

In summary (1) hitting complete installation puts all the files on my machine but nothing registers as installed afterward and (2) I cant install the individual pieces because it says I need to install .NET framework which I cant install because it says it is already installed.

Can anyone help?

Hello,
Do you have any antivirus software installed? If so, please whitelist the FreeSO launcher executable.
If you don't have an antivirus (or you just have the default Windows Defender which should work) please report back so we can find another solution.
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response.
I just have the default windows defender
Hello,
Please follow these steps to debug the problem:
1. Press Windows Key + R and type in cmd and then click OK
2. Type in the command prompt window: cd C:/Program Files (x86)/FreeSO Launcher and press ENTER
3. Type in the command prompt window: fsolauncher.exe and press ENTER
4. Click 'Yes' to allow admin access.
5. Wait a few seconds for lines to appear in the console window, then copy and paste everything here so I can take a look at it.

I left it up for a while (20 ish minutes) and that's all that appears. My install folder is a folder in the Maxis directory within my program files; I checked and all the files for the game and FreeSO appear to be there.

I have written about this issue in the Windows launcher FAQs: https://github.com/ItsSim/fsolauncher/wiki/FAQ (top of the list)
In this particular case, I'd recommend you try running FreeSO.exe directly from the installation folder. Remember to right-click and Run As Administrator.
You can also create a shortcut to it for ease of access, just remember to set it to always run as Administrator.
