MonoGame.Linux and WindowsGL. Why not both?

So, MonoDevelop on Windows creates a MonoGame project that has the Linux version and it won't compile as a result. For cross-platform reasons, I didn't want to get rid of it and wondered if I could use both since they're both OpenGL-based. It didn't bitch. o_O On MonoGame's Github, developers have suggested of combining the two into something like MonoGame.OpenGL or something of that sort and I have to agree.
