Welcome to my world. Try one of the older builds before 300 and see if the sound still works. Apparently us Soundblaster user's are at a major loss here till a later build is released for a larger variety of soundcard support types. Probably in another 6 months or so.

I don't suppose this could have anything to do with having 64-bit windows now and the difference on where it sticks the OpenAL32.dll? I mean I checked and it puts the correct .dll file in each windows system folder, one for 32 and another for WOW64 so no luck there, or is installing OpenAL...

Your right I meant to just say sound card, my GPU is fine, i've upgraded everything on my PC about a month ago except the core, and a Quad Core should still be more then enough to run this game, hell the game was still working fine after the upgrade but at some point, everything went all mute...

Soo i went back and tested every older version of the game there was and almost pinpointed exactly when my game started having more crashing issues every other update until it finally started working smooth, but then at some point started running mute all the time, It's somewhere Between Build...

just right click on the shortcut to the game then click properties and where you see Target: "C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOClient\FreeSO.exe" just put a space and add -dx next to it and hit apply. The next time you start the game that should trigger it. :)

Annnd updates later and my mine still has no sound. It stopped working somewhere after the first May update release.

I got the sound to work using the -dx command but now when I click the checkbox after character creation I end up with this:

I can launch the game fine with the current build, but with the last two so far i've had no sound, what do I do to fix that?

Soooo I found this rip-off expansion made many years ago. I know it's shunned by my many old school sims fans. But it got my thinking, "hey good way to get a bunch of randoms fans old work for Sims 1 all in one disk(or ISO) to put into this game later!" Is there anyway a tool or program(possibly...
