It's just for our cool new installer. I'm working on multi-plat stuff right now to futureproof us.

Any sort of idea when a global server will be up and will it operate like the olden days where you can make your own lot and go arround the globe choosing where to visit instead of this ip joining? most servers are not active and not enough people to play the game in a normal way, plus your character has max stats anyways so there is nothing to work for is this going to be changed so everyone starts on 0 skills and you need to grind them up? plus money you can add yourself which i think is stupid because whats the point doing the pizza stations anymore now, no one should have access to add money that easily if it's going to operate like the old days?

Yes, that will all be changed and no, there has not been any timeline set for when the global server will be available.

You DO REALISE FreeSO is currently a *DEBUG BUILD*. Features present here may not be in the final game. All features are active here for debugging purposes.

Just be happy that FSO has gotten as far as it has. The work done so far has been absolutely amazing. No one has ever confirmed that any of the recent builds are final. ;)

The text on that download link blurb certainly does give the impression that it is a finished product.
But to be honest, I don't think it is unreasonable for them to assume that anyone interested in clicking the link is also interested enough to take a quick moment to read the blog page that it is floating on. All of the rest of the text does make it quite clear that FreeSO is in the development stage.

And thats exactly why a ALPHA/DEBUG Version notice isnt necessary for FreeSO at this point

If the global server were launched, I probably would have said.
Oh, yeah, I figured. That's when I came to read more.

But I'm saying for new user retention purposes, as more and more people start seeing this/finding out that they can finally play The Sims Online again. They may impulsively just hit the download expecting to play a global alpha/beta or what have you.

Understood. But that lays the responsibility for their actions on the developers instead of on them. When someone impulsively downloads and installs without reading then it is their own responsibility/fault if it's not what they expected.

No I didn't that's why I asked my questions, I was curious how it was going to turn out because the excitement of the game when it was released was going round thr globe visiting places instead of typing in a IP to join one big lot and not being able to make your own.

Yeah, there needs be a user guide that's more clearly illustrate for new people.

Judging from half of the support posts we get, I don't think another guide will help.

I've set up the server-rebuild branch again, but for some reason it's only building on desktop.

A new visual effect, thanks to recent developments. The skip in the animation is because the first frame of new lot/zoom is the most intensive to render, so I'll probably make it wait til it renders the first frame before commencing the animation (should mean a nice smooth entry from city view).
