Can't change house category

I want to go from residential to entertainment and eventually switch to money when I have enough green up items to support the guests. Every time I try to switch the category it shows the icon change for .1 second and then back to residential. I tried it while I was on the property, then I left the property to see if that was the problem. It still won't let me change it.
 
Has it been 7 days since the category was set?

Those are the 2 requirements. The category can't be changed again for 7 days and the lot must be closed (no one one it, including yourself) when you change it.
 
Yeah, I bought the lot when I made my sim so it's over 2 weeks old now. We start as residential, right? It is still residential. I know I looked at the categories tab but I never switched it because it's still the same category it was when I bought the lot.
I was on the lot when I first tried to change it, then I left the lot and tried again. Could that be the problem? That I tried to change it while on it and then I left and still couldn't?
 
It actually starts as No Category. But if you picked Residential back at that time then, yeah, it should be ready to switch now.
I don't think being on the lot when you tried should have glitched it up because, honestly, a lot of us do that. But perhaps I am wrong about that one? When I was clicking everything that stood still I was doing it all too early :D (I assumed "no category" didn't count as a category so I didn't set one before the patch that made that mechanic work. I was incorrect!)
 
I think I understand now. I think I must have switched to residential recently without realizing it. I thought I had it the whole time since I bought the lot. I will just have to wait and see when the timer is up. Thanks for your help Raeven!
