"Crumplebottom Chandelier" graphics fix

The Crumplebottom Chandelier has a corrupted color pallet making it a grainy, gold-color mess.
Choose ONE of the following patches to fix that from http://www.woobsha.com/files/FreeSO/

Patch Choices:
  • The Original (Fix) is Maxis' icicle-chic graphics designed for Vacation Island's ski-lodge.
  • The Gold Recolor allows you to keep the gold, but get rid of the grainy mess.

Patches get installed in TSOClient > Patch>User

You can have this patch installed when you visit public servers (freeso.ml, for instance, which is where I tested this out). The graphics will looked fixed to you (but not to anyone who has not got the patch) and there will be no conflict between your computer and the server.

NOTE: The old thumbnail (with the wonky grainy-goldcolors) stills shows in the buymode catalog. The object itself will display the proper graphics.

Both patches have been updated with new SPR2

thank you for your work on restoring all these old objects! keep it up, hopefully they can be integrated in an update and become official freeso objects

My pleasure! :)
This one would be a good candidate for being included, but most of the patches I have been uploading will become redundant as FreeSO is developed - they are just temporary fixes of known bugs to make play-testing a bit more pleasant. Except maybe the sink's graphics hiccup, I do sorta-kinda remember that happening in early TSO beta, as well.

The bed routing issue that JDrocks spotted was definitely an early TSO problem and their first fix (during beta) was the same as the patch I uploaded. I think they fixed it properly later on (so you could still get into bed when endtables were there but not if a full counter is there) So that patch (or a proper one, though personally I'm fine with being able to squeeze past a counter to go to bed :D ) is another good candidate for being included.

I thought some people might have gotten used to this chandelier being "gold" and now prefer it as gold (but without the grainy mess), so I also made a recolored to offer as a "custom content object". (Plus I needed one for my TS1 project anyway ;) )

EdIt: For now, Here's an alternative patch anyone who preferrs gold to the original, but doesn't want it all grainy. (only one recoloring patch can be used or this)

Yeah! It did a surprisingly good job of being a gold chandelier, didn't it? Usually it's a LOT more obvious when the color palette's gone wonky. The only thing the original is missing is definition, which got lost in the graininess.

That gold distortion isn't gold, so much as invisible streaks/stripes letting the yellow background show through.

Try converting your P sprites to 256 colors (aka Indexed or 8-bit, depending on your graphics program) before importing them.
AHA! Sometimes programs have problems with a color palette doesn't have enough colors in the picture's palette. (I didn't see the pattern until you posted your object. Definitely something you should post as a bug.) So make sure you actually save it with 256 colors rather than allowing it to be less. (With one program I had to add a rainbow stripe at the top of a sprite to force the thing to save 256 colors. )

Thanks! I had a lot of problems with the color distorption

Keep an eye out for me being wrong. If something really colorful becomes distorted then it means I guessed incorrectly.

How do you do the recoloring? Are you recoloring the original objects or are you adding new objects into your game?
I'd love to see them. Omigosh, What a hypocrite I am, saying that without having shared any myself! (Not that I have done very much).

I recolor object that are already in the game, at this stage of the game is the better way to make sure they can be used with no problems :)
