Error 520

So I have been able to login to freeso, but the moment the map pops up. it times out. I also attempted to visit freeso.org and received an error 520 bad gateway error. I do not know if both are related, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean "it times out"?
A screenshot would be helpful and not just confusing words.

If your game freezes, and shows the "not responding" window, try using DirectX mode, which will improve performance on PCs with low specifications and probably make your game not freeze when loading the city.

If you are using the launcher, it's in the settings page ("Graphics Mode"). Choose DirectX and restart the game.
OR
If you are not using the launcher:
To put FreeSO in DirectX Mode: Right click FreeSO Shortcut, Properties, and add -dx to the "Target Field" like this:
Make sure to add quotes before and after the path, for example:
"C:\Program Files\FreeSO\FreeSO.exe" -dx
or don't add them at all: C:\Program Files\FreeSO\FreeSO.exe -dx
