FreeSO launcher

Can't you make it that it installs the font when you installatie the launcher? The Sims 2 used Benguiat Gothic I think and that's a n Adobe font I think?
TS2 loaded fonts and had its own special little font file format (no surprise there). It did not install the font.

Uh well if ur stil going to do it windows 8 style please make the background 1) one image and 2) blurry
1 - Don't use a blurred background if you put textureless tiles on top of it (even the "designers" of the Windows 8 Startmenu were smart enough to avoid that). It cut's right through the background and makes the tiles feel like "holes" or really bad visual artifacts. Try to make them pop out of the background.
Uh, what?!

There is a lot wrong with the design, it's not possible to point out one thing. There's a reason windows 8 doesn't let you set a custom image as the start background - only some really simple ones. I have never seen a noisy background work well.

The sims 1 had one en it was pretty neat in my opinion

Can't you give the tiles a shadow? (Idk if it works but it's worth a try?) Or just use a color with a gradient instead?

I mean, you can set one if you're a huge idiot, think it looks nice somehow and get a modded version. That's a pretty exclusive set of traits though.

There are entire applications dedicated to this since it's not normally possible. It's not normally possible because it looks terrible if you just slap any old image on there

It's possible they may have added it in a recent update, for people like you.

LRB is right this time. It's there since 8.1 Preview.

Anyway, that background just won't work, design-wise.

No way, it can't be! This is so unexpected that I need to take a year break from the forums.

For a launcher, a Windows 8 app isn't practical. Here's a better idea:

The blank is a web page.
I agree that simpler is better. Xezno's example simply wastes a ton of space because it can (why is it like the same size as the game window), when there are only 2 buttons and a news section which wouldn't even be that content heavy. We'll deal with this in our own way, which I assure you will be reasonable and functional.

Although Rhys will eventually make a way better launcher then me, I've decided to just roll with what I already cooked up and make it functional as a filler until then known as FreeSOLauncherZ. It works as you expect to: pressing "start" launches the game. Update and embedded website doesn't work yet. It uses a simple try-catch statement to detect weather or not the game isn't there. Simple, but effective.

Finally got the embedded webpage to load something without causing script errors then crashing the application and it's the Road to Live Release thread!

Warning: embedded webpage uses IE.
Hope the screenshot answers your question, @Driesje44. xD
