Nope, servers are down.
It's just your username, you can have 3 Sims on your account.

I think I had the same error, I didn't actually read it, but it was something about DX too. I fixed it by uninstalling everything and making a clean install. I hope it works for you too
I just attempted to run the game to see what version I ended up with and this is what I get when I press "play freeso"

It says "I can only register once a day" now but I did not receive a confirmation page. I'm assuming my account has been created?
