I personally only have apple products. This isn't to open the Apple vs. X debate, its just what i have and prefer. I love all tech and believe people fight too much about what OS is the best. They are all great for their own reasons. NOW THAT WE GOT THAT OUT OF THE WAY...
This isn't exactly the perfect way to do it but if Mac is all you have, this works. I am running the android version of FreeSO on my mac. I know the native Mac version is in development, but until that is ready, heres what i did.
First:
Download Wineskin from here http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php
Wineskin is a program that lets you run .exe files on mac. I used this to extract all files needed to make the android app work.
And
Download The Sims Online from here http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/tso/Setup The Sims Online.exe
Second:
Open wineskin and create a new blank wrapper. Name it what every you want. Once it is created, view the new wrapper in finder.
Third:
Right click on your new wrapper and click "Show Package Contents"
Fourth:
Click on the Wineskin app in the Contents folder and hit Install Software. Then Choose Setup Executable. Now chose Setup The Sims Online.exe
The sims online will begin to install into the wineskin wrapper file system under drive_c>program files>Maxis>TheSimsOnline.
Fifth:
Download BlueStacks from here http://www.bluestacks.com
BlueStacks is a light version of android that is easy to install and set up.
Sixth:
Follow the instructions from this thread to download the android app and get your computer ready to transfer the files to the app.
http://forum.freeso.org/threads/installing-freeso-for-ios-android.2249/
Make sure you read the entire thread (its not too long) and find the most recent version of the android app. The only difference is when they talk about the files on your computer, you will use the ones from inside the wineskin wrapper. And instead of your phone, you will use BlueStacks
Seventh:
To install the FreeSO android app into BlueStacks, simply double click on the file ending in .apk that you downloaded from the thread.
Im sorry if I missed anything. This looks kinda complicated but over all shouldn't take more than about 20 min to do. I really hope this works for you! The results are wonderful! If you have a newer macOS, this works in full screen, just hit the green circle in the top right of the window.
