How much I miss TS3...

Back in 2009, at Christmas, I got The Sims 3; this was not my first Sims Game. I had SimCity Societies Deluxe Edition, The Sims (original) with Makin' Magic and SimCity 4. The Sim series has always been my home and always will be my home, especially once I get playing The Sims Online and it's spiritual successor. It's been almost 10 years now since I started playing The Sims series according to my calculations and therefore I thought I should boot up my favourite Sims game; The Sims 3. I haven't played this damn game for 5 years now, so my craving for it was abnormal. At first, I couldn't find the box, so I went around my entire house looking for it. And, when I found it there was literally nothing inside it - no DVD, no manual, nothing. And, since it was the pre-order edition (as far as I know) it has 1000 SimPoints to shop online with (which, I never actually redeemed! :() but that was not in there either. I'm currently in the process of buying a new copy or contacting Origin support (we'll see which one gets here first...). I've had The Sims 3's soundtrack in my head ever since I first heard it (I am listening to it as I write this post, nostalgia galore) and it's always been the best in my opinion, The Sims 2 second to it.
<3 The Sims.
I'm going to boot up TS1 for nostalgia now, and re-create the first Sim I ever made...

p.s. This is in no way a moaning thread, just a nostalgia thread.

I love the TS3 sound track! I don't really get nostalgic from it though, that feeling is reserved for TS1 and TS2 soundtracks XD TS3 was a really great game, but I got waaay too behind on the expansions and I didn't want to dish out £200 or so to buy them all, so I just stopped playing it. Plus it lagged a little on my laptop :D
I've sorta quit new Sims series now, I haven't bought Sims 4 and I don't have any intention to buy any more, it's just far too expensive. But I always have my TS1 and TS2 disks (i went a little crazy on those and bought all the expansions) :D

The Sims 4 is too expensive for what it is (essentially just a UI change applied to TS3 with a bit more logic and "nicer" graphics), so I haven't bought it nor do I plan to buy it. When I first played TS3 it didn't lag much at all, but that was probably because it was on my newer laptop (2GB, C2D, nVidia something-or-other) that ran pretty well for games; although, it hasn't aged well which is why I'm sat here on a PC that will probably last me until 2020 before I have to build a new one (I'll probably upgrade, though - LGA1151? Probably going to upgrade in August) unless I want a server build for the TS2O servers and the like.
And, to what you said about having all the TS1&2 expansion packs, I only have a few TS1 packs but I have all of the TS2 ones:

The time played isn't right because I've been launching it from a custom shortcut linking to the binary directly, and Origin doesn't appear to count that (nor my time spent playing the game without Origin, obviously, or my development time).
Another good game that came just before The Sims which gave me nostalgia today was Theme Park World. I even tried playing it to no avail (compatibility issues :I) and I'm looking for a patch or something that makes the game work. I've had the disc for the game since I was 4 or 5 now, so it's really close to me which is why it's actually in pretty good condition for it's age. I even got it recently for the PS2 just because the controls are a lot nicer on the controller. If I get it playing I'll probably post it somewhere and start a gameplay series, and I might do some side research into the quirky file formats in case someone wants to recreate the game. It wasn't popular, but hey, I loved it.

Apologies for the long post.

Oo I see! Well I have The Sims Complete Collection which is fairly cheap if you buy it from the right place :) And I remember the day I bought all the TS2 expansions I didn't have... I had about £150.00 worth of games in my Amazon cart and it took a lot of self-coaxing before I clicked buy ^_^
You played Theme Park world on the PS1? I loved that game sooooooo much, I must have been around 7-8 when I started playing it! I had the PS2 version too but I still really enjoyed the PS1 version ahaha. I can remember tryna get X amount of the golden tickets so I could use the camcorder! If I remember correctly you got to build roller coasters too? Mine were always really lame ;D

In PC and PS2 versions, the camcorder was unlocked free if I recall correctly. My rollercoasters usually sucked ass but sometimes went really well.

Haha, yeah, i miss it too, the soundtrack also is so cool, it was just perfect.
Sadly, i lost my copy too :(
