Although I play Sims 2 and prefer it ten times over to Sims 3, for a variety reasons, part never fully accepted it. Mostly due to high exceptions I had of it back in 2004, when I only 14, only to have the end result be so underwhelming I had convince and slap (not literately) myself it was everything it lived to back in late 2003, and all of 2004, prior to the rumored fire. I've slowly moved to the back to the point of just plain getting off the hype train of any game since then. In retrospective, I can see why Maxis has been silent on Sims 4 - I will never say EA or EA/Maxis unless it deals with The Sims Studio. But when I play Sims 1, it's hard not to want to customize the freakin' hell out of the Sim or start a business, ect... That make me realize, I owe this game more apologizes then amount of bones I could give a dog.

late 2003, early 2004, version of The Sims 2, and you know how it is now.

Sims 1 was a brilliant game, and Sims 2 (in my opinion) was just as brilliant. I loved the customisation and the new content (like memories, aging, family trees..) in Sims 2. I had high expectations of Sims 3. I did like the new skills system, it was harder to get up skills and gave more of a sense of a achievement, plus they had the cool "goal" things where you'd say run 500km and then never get fatigued again (or something). But Sims 3 just seemed to be too much of a sell-out with lackluster, recycled expansions such as pets/supernatural/Katy perry's sweet treats....

If I had to put TS1, TS2 and TS3 in order of epicness, it'd have to be TS2, TS1, TS3 (TS1 a close second). I just love the sims 2 and think it was an amazing step-up from the first game.

it is an amazing step up from the first. I just put much hype and hopes for something akin to TS1 had, at that time, and even when I thought I let go of it, I apparently didn't deep down.

I still play TS2, i have all the sims games, but this one is really special to me, idk why :3 I'm still making a story with this game!

I love TS2. I have the complete collection and I just love it, it's so... compelling, and addictive.
The amount of customization is doubled from the first games, and stood out from the rest. EA/Maxis really f*cked up TS3/TS4.

I had this kind of disappointment when I played TS3 for the first time.

I mean, it felt cool, right? But I also remember all the hype about open world, all the awesome stuff and... well, it was just plain old TS2 on steroids in the end. What I hate about EA's policy is - well, let's remake this game completely with a really basic set of features and then add all the content back in a ton of expansion pack, some of which make the amount of content ridiculously overwhelming. For example, I really liked the original series. For a long time I had only first 4 expansion packs, which really felt like something that really improves gameplay. But with all up to Makin' Magic, I felt like it was simply too much.

It's not the case with TS2 though, but again, amount of content simpy makes loading times painful, regardless of how high-end and far beyond what original TS2 requirements your hardware capabilities are. Again - starting from scratch felt necessary, as they went far beyond the old engine was able to take, right?

And suddenly, there is TS4 where all that open world stuff got removed because logic. I haven't played it yet, but I have free trial on Origin though.

I feel like the Sims 2 was the only one to really take what worked in the previous game and make it better. After all the expansions were released and all was said and done, it is a pretty complete game. Full 3D, sims can actually be related to each other, life stages, days of the week, total control over every aspect of my neighborhood and just a bunch of other features that the sims 1 didn't have. I think the Sims 2 is my favorite because it's just sucha a good update to a great game and it manages to have that iconic Maxis style that I feel the later games started to lose. Like somewhere around the Sims 2 Apartment Life and the Sims 3

Remember guys when EA gave out the Sims 2 Complete collection for free on ORIGIN A YEAR AGO?This is what happens a year later:

I always had a lot of problemsbwith deinstalling the 3-packs like fun with pets, maybe you could uninstaller everything (maybe with Revo uninsaller) en then reinstall it?
