Afr0, you should really do some exception handling.

I did the effects thing and font things too.

Tried on both NVidia and Intel GPU. Windows 8.1 x64. All libs installed correctly. All files in place.

At least yours opened a window...

I'm using Windows 7 x64, btw.

Kathycakes: That simply means that you haven't installed TSO. The installer should have warned you about that also. But when you install it, you should be able to make it run. :)

nicefunfungirl: Great that you made it run! You'll be able to log in once we go live... should hopefully happen before New Year's Eve.

pisarz1958: Client works fine on my end, so this isn't a case of an exception occuring in the client. At least for no other reason than a missing dll or missing files.
I haven't been able to test it on Windows 8, but it should work. I checked, and noticed that the client uses the .NET Framework 2.0. Check that you have it installed - if not, install it.

Rhys: I just removed the lua51.dll dependency from the client. You and pisarz1958 should try downloading it and place it in the TSOClient directory to see if the client will run. If that doesn't work, could you try installing Lua for Windows to see if that'll work?

I installed lua and put the dll into the folder, but I'm still getting the same error.

I'm too excited to playyyyyy! :D

Edit:Oh! One more question,Were we supposed to have the game updated to latest? (I know its a stupid question but once its answered,I'll have some sort of way explaining why i asked this)

Also even though i know its unavailable right now,But is it supposed to say "EA.com" when it says the error "EA.com is temporaily unavailable. This may be due to routine server maintenance or other network issues. Please try again later." Is it supposed to say EA.com? And if not,is there something i did wrong? And for now if it is supposed to say that,Is that because theres gonna be some stuff to download to direct us to the correct log in servers?

I get the update utility and log in screen which we can't use right? Gah. I may be too excited to realize what I'm doing wrong but do I need to download something else????

Uhul!!!!
OBS: Windows 8.1 64bits 4GB RAM.

You can either uninstall and the reinstall using the new installer, or check that your Content folder contains "TerrainSplat.xnb" and "TerrainSplat2.xnb". They should go into a new folder, "Content\Effects".
Then check that the Content folder contains "ProjectDollhouse.otf" and "ProjectDollhouse_10px.xnb", "ProjectDollhouse_12px.xnb", "ProjectDollhouse_14px.xnb" and "ProjectDollhouse_16px.xnb". These should go into "Content\Fonts"
You need to do what Afr0 says. If you don't do your client will crash!

After following all of your instructions, I'm able to run your client without it crashing on Windows 8.1 ^_^

Just a note, I only see ProjectDollhouse_10px.xnb, ProjectDollhouse_12px.xnb, ProjectDollhouse_14px.xnb, and ProjectDollhouse_16px.xnb. I do not see ProjectDollhouse.otf.

Woah, that is bizarre. Have you got the .NET Framework 2.0 installed? If not, I fear this might be an x64 issue (especially since it is confirmed that the client runs on Windows 8 now).
Do you have Visual Studio installed, by any chance? Would you bother to compile the client for x64, if you're running 64bit Windows?

nicefunfungirl: The EA.com error is supposed to be there. It just means the server isn't available at the moment. Basically, the client is just using a text string that was shipped with the original client. Should perhaps reword the error message if it is confusing.

hepler08: No, there's no need to download anything else.

-BloodFighter-: The username and password will be the username and password for your account. I haven't made any account registration system yet.

jesseinsanity: That's good to know, it means ProjectDollhouse.otf isn't needed. Thanks!
