I installed lua and put the dll into the folder, but I'm still getting the same error.

Woah, that is bizarre. Have you got the .NET Framework 2.0 installed? If not, I fear this might be an x64 issue (especially since it is confirmed that the client runs on Windows 8 now).
Do you have Visual Studio installed, by any chance? Would you bother to compile the client for x64, if you're running 64bit Windows?

nicefunfungirl: The EA.com error is supposed to be there. It just means the server isn't available at the moment. Basically, the client is just using a text string that was shipped with the original client. Should perhaps reword the error message if it is confusing.

hepler08: No, there's no need to download anything else.

-BloodFighter-: The username and password will be the username and password for your account. I haven't made any account registration system yet.

jesseinsanity: That's good to know, it means ProjectDollhouse.otf isn't needed. Thanks!

i'm really glad i could help. i'm running windows 8.1 64Bit.

I can't get it to compile. I installed lau, tried getting Net 2.0 (wouldn't install, due to having Net 3.5), and did a fresh install from the TSO trial download. Any thoughts? Running windows 7 x64.

You shouldn't have to compile it. Just download the latest installer.

So, as I understand it, the first version of the emulator is HOPEFULLY going live in the next few days?

If so, approx. how complete is it?

WINE does support registry entries. If it didn't most of the software used with it wouldn't install. Maybe try the .NET 2.0 package for WINE?

bennerman: The server software isn't an emulator. The protocol is unique, designed from scratch,
You'll be able to create a character and log into a city. That's it.

Ok, now I'm confused xP

Well wait, does it use a copy of TSO that you already own to let you play? :p

Sigh!

I don't get what's so hard for everyone to understand about this.
This project is not an emulator. Everything is written from scratch. Client, servers, everything.

Reason for testing in wine: I just got a new computer (4gigs of ram, 3GHz dual core pentium, 1tb hard drive, a video card thatll blow yer socks off)
For WINE you need to install Mono for Windows in wine to enable .net... I will try it and see how far I get.

Yes, the servers will be live shortly.
I just finished the networking code for logging into a city with a previously created character, but found out that there are some as of yet unidentified bugs pertaining to creating a character.

"Project Dollhouse renamed to Afr0-Land, Membership drops 99%." :p

So, when it goes live, is there going to be gameplay, or will it be "create a character and view the map" for now?

Well,According to what afr0 said "Though we've spent a long time, we've managed to get further than originally anticipated; the client now supports not only character creation, but logging into a city as well." I think we managed to get gameplay too! :D

installer installed it flawlessly.
Launcher works perfect except you can drag the tab of the windows off the space and you can't get to them.

A useful bug report!
I'll add it to the next milestone as a feature request.

New windows seem to flash at (0, 0) before going to their correct positions... Not exactly a serious bug.
