Took me a while to figure it out too. Even when I did, I realized that having the debug lot hard coded into the server would be a bitch to recompile and decided to add it a config to make it easier to test. Of course, it still isn't user friendly and auto saving is non-existent.
 
Announcing the first unofficial custom client playtest!
I'm going to be releasing a modified client - containing debug items and various other perks - for you guys to use in the playtest that I'll be hosting tomorrow (probably). The client will be the latest build available with custom changes merged into my own little fork. Some debug items - such as fire - will be blacklisted server-side (as a test) so that you cannot use them.
And, if you were wondering, yes I'm working on Xanadu. You'll have to wait to see what that is though :p

What you mean perks?? how you have done this modifications??
 
Yes, various modifications, thanks to the source being available on GitHub and my studies of SimAntics in my free time. These modifications are relatively unstable as of now so the play test will likely be done tomorrow if I can get the client to work near-flawlessly.
Can't wait! you'll link us to where we can download your version when the time comes right? :)
 
Remember that I only disabled the debug objects because people were crashing the game with them deliberately. I'm also not sure what modifications you could even make to change the game at all right now...

The IP has been changed to letsracebwoi.zapto.org to differentiate and allow you to memorize the IP. :)
