Good morning everyone!

Before I go off on a tangent the hostname is: phoenixfso.no-ip.org (running dist 196)
Skype group: https://join.skype.com/vf3r4NrkcQ1D (for live chat, requests, schedules)

Will post an "official" schedule in the thread sometime soon.

I've never really used a forum before, but I'm glad to finally be part of a community as enthusiastic about TSO as I am. I've been following the project on and off since the days of TsoEmu, and it's been hard to contain my excitement ever since I came across this site and the awesome people who are working to bring this idea to fruition.

Pardon my rambling, but in short, hello everybody!

I will be hosting a server for the next couple hours or so that everyone is more than welcome to join.
I've done a bit of hosting for some other games in the past, so I'm hopeful that there shouldn't be any issues. If however you do encounter any issues, please let me know. If the majority of you are able to connect and enjoy hanging out, I will have no issue coming up with some sort of schedule to keep the server online as frequently as possible.

Once again the hostname is: phoenixfso.no-ip.org (running dist 196)

Look forward to seeing you in game!

Hello! It's a little hard to get people to join playtests right now, since we're all from different timezones and nothing's ongoing. I personally tend to announce things a day in advance, though that's only really happened once so far with the first official playtest.

Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to networking, however I do have a spare tower that I've been looking to use as a project piece. Do you think the idea of hosting a "dedicated" 24/7 server for the time being would be too much? I know it seems overkill, but I have no other use for the desktop I previously mentioned and I'd like provide something for everyone if possible. I also read in another thread that an official server is planned at a later date though, so I don't want to overstep any boundaries. :)

I would have did this myself, if we had any form of ingame moderation in place. The standalone server is also rather buggy, and the simulator itself can still suffer from infinite loops caused by bad object scripts. We're quite close to having an mmo server as well, so where to put the work is kind of leaning towards other things right now.

I gotcha, thanks for the input. Really looking forward to what you guys have to release next!:p

I already proposed a reset every half hour or so in case something goes wrong, or some sort of detector for if the server stops responding. This, coupled with an autosave system, would be a quick and dirty workaround.

Is this workaround feasible/possible at the moment or no?

The moderation and permissions systems are more essential than autosave. Otherwise it'll be like back in the day when you kept floodfilling random wallpaper outside or the floor, or spawning debug objects to crash the server.

Sorry about your house, man. I thought it was a controlled burn, but then I realized I do not have the power to control fire ;_;
