Original title:
TS4: no pools or toddlers
You heard it right from the donkey's mouth: no pools or toddlers. Why?
because "it's not possible" to include "every single feature" from previous games.

So, basically, you guys just don't want to. o_O
Toddlers I can understand. When I still played Sims 3, I reduced their age to the bare minimum. But pools?! Really!? This isn't 2004. I can understand the lack of weather, but come on, pools have been in the series since gecko and one of the most notable ways to kill a Sim in the entire franchise.

No basements either and there seems to be a lack of terrain tools. When a feature doesn't work well in a previous game (i.e. toddlers, CAST, favourites, etc.) you improve on it you don't just throw it away. Teens, young adults and adults are also the same height FYI and curtains seem to have animations even with closed windows while hair is still plastic/clay - honestly, we had hair animations in TS2! Just goes to show that those Tweets from the "crazy" guy now looks to ring true. Personally, I'm just going to stick to TS1, 2 and 3 and just watch this car crash from a distance. :p
And it's not just them removing small features that get people worked up, it's the whole principle behind it. If something so small and relatively easy to implement is gone what about other game features?
I do believe that the developers really are trying but it's the higher ups at EA who are giving us all these problems. IMO, it looks like EA higher ups are gombeens...

They've probably sidelined them to include in expansions so they can earn more $$$... I'm expecting pools will show up in a seasons style expansion, and toddlers will show up in a generations style expansion.

Yes, EA will always find a means to make more money, he thinks only the money and not even notice their customers...

I was looking forward to TS4, though now they've made me like TS1 and 2 even more.

Lolwat no toddlers? So it's pregnant > newborn baby > child? Pff, laziness is prevalent in the new sims games.

Out of the 6 life stages included 4 are the same height so they're roughly the same.

On the subject of EPs, I think they're a good idea if done properly like most Sims EPs so far. I don't like the idea of paid DLC for The Sims though, that's what SPs are for. EA will probably treat their own customers like pirates and screw up with it, anyway.

Wow, from what i;ve been reading lately this is just going to be more style and polish and even less substance. It's like they not even trying to come up with a good excuse as to why they couldn't bring back the most rudimentary, basic components of a sim game. It's like they just want to create this vibrant world that feels 'alive' at the cost of give you less and less control and holding back features in the knowledge that people will buy the expansion packs because they want them. I need to go calm down before i do something irrational. I swear i could write a 5 page essay as to why the sims is sucking now haha.

Eventually, the fanbase will crack. Especially with all the re-implantation efforts of the first game's engine, such as this, in response to TSO's shut down. Something not even I foreshadowed. o_o

The generation of The Sims 1/Original is simply the best, 2 is not bad... but EA overexploited series of the Sims too with too many extension/DLC, they started it after that Will Wright has left MAXIS, its started with at the Sims 2 série and now EA continues the overexploited the series.
That's what I think...

Yeah. I mean, TS2 was a huge step in the right direction for the series, but things kinda felt out-of-place once Wright left. Despite the amount customizations you can do in the later games, I still feel more comfortable with TS1. Anyway, should be no problem bringing TS2 and later features into this new implantation of the original engine.

TS2 uses a modified version of SimAntics (same structure, mostly similar primitives), and TS3 objects are compiled to native code. Nobody has any idea how TS4 will work, but there's no chance they will move back to simantics. You'll be able to implement features from the newer games but you won't be able to use the objects from those games without implementing their respective simulations and ways to read their game files.

Which, I have no plans on doing. Just game features unrelated to AI, like a more seamless world, better build mode, yadda yadda.
