I just installed Free SO today. Once installation was complete, and I logged in, it told me I needed to install the update. So I do that, get the screen where it says it will restart, and then it freezes. Avast is also telling me it might be a dangerous file. Any thoughts/advice?

You should make your AV whitelist FreeSO or turn it off while it is updating.
If you prefer to update manually, you can download the update from https://beta.freeso.org/dist and extract it to your FreeSO directory.
