So, this is an IDEAS regarding the "Lot Category" system.
There was something that has always annoyed me in the game. It was the limitations of using of objects on lots that were restricted by lot category.
For example, certain objects were unusable in certain categories, the dance and DJ booths could not be used outside of "Entertainment" category, The Pizza Making Machine could not be used outside of "Money" category.
On the other end of the spectrum, you had certain objects that had the same function that made no sense. An Easel (the only way to really make paintings) was a money-making tool. Not a skilling object, so was the cooking station.
My idea is simple.
Given how much power we can have over objects in IDE, I see no reason not to try and attempt to "lift" those limitations off and create objects that would fucntion DIFFERENTLY on each type. (to some extent anyway)
For example
Let's take the Easel.
On A Money Lot, it would allow you to paint and then sell the objects for a cash depending on your Creativity.
On A Skill Lot, using the Easel would increase your Creativity, but you could not earn money.
On a Service Lot, you could "Craft" unique paintings (including CC if we go that route) as well as the "standard" in objects that could then be "sold" to Store lots.
---
Let's take the "Band" object.
We could have some sort of unique synergy bonus on sims who "skill" with the band group object, on say Skill Lots.
We could use Entertainment to play "music" and people could tip them if they "like" the performance. On Money, it would have it's original function.
---
The Pizzamaker tool could create pizzas on Service, help skilling on Skill Lots.
---
I really want to have the freedom to use the objects on any lot because there's so many objects that are just "there" without a function even though they could have an easy purpose.
Anyway. I've had this idea for A LONG time, and I have even MORE (splitting cretain category into sub-categories) ideas for TSO that I wish were made. So who knows. We have the rare freedom to do this! Let me know what ya'll think.
