[ARCHIVE] Road to Live Release

@RHY3756547 I was on TSOMania earlier today and it brought up a question, Will the user-maintained stores make a return? (Clothes stores and Furniture Stores) And If so, will some elements have to be changed/reworked?

Thanks in advance

Yes they will return. I don't think much will be reworked, the idea that certain content must be bought from user stores makes sense. I'd like them to be more than object dumps though (like, every buyable object just on grass), so if there's a reasonable way to encourage that it would be nice. I also realize that people don't want to live in stores, so being able to own multiple lots may help with this.

I agree with you. Your idea of multiple lots for people to own would be a huge improvement over the original TSO. Multiple lots would also make our cities feel much more full. Great to see them making a return eventually!

So its Sims Online with a little bit of "rework" because Multiple Sims in the Same City, multiple lots, bigger Screen Resolution and Revive in all because Shut down on 1st August 2008 (I think 1 August i dont know)

On a related note, I think we will also allow multiple sims in the same city. This is another way to own and run multiple lots.
I kinda want this since my server won't be huge and is can't handle a major loads. So one city seems the most realistic.

It's still sad that we can't get EA Land back. With the EA Land map you could have lived where ever you want and still be able to visit friends in *other cities*. With a limit to 3 Sims only, you can max. visit 3 cities. If you then allow multiple sims in the same city, it doesn't make much sense to set up more than 3 cities because most people will be playing in "Alphaville" anyway :p
I always liked East Jerome and Fancey Fields, but ended up always playing in Alphaville because everybody was there. :(

You could never play as all three, since you could only have one active Sim at a time. The others had to be offline. Unless you had multiple accounts.

Jolly Pines anybody? Dragon's Cove would have been my favorite if it wasn't "hardcore" :p I mean, the water in that city was really cool. Getting back on topic however, I think the map in EA Land is something I will miss the most as it opened up so many new options for where to hang out rather than just one city per sim. I mean, I can only play in Blazing Falls with my favorite sim for so long. :D

There aren't that many people to be using more than one city. Maybe in the future this can be considered, if we somehow get a very large player base.

Agreed, the only problem I can see is choosing which city. If there is going to be a Rhys-run (i.e FreeSO based server rather than private ones) ... prepared to have issue picking city. (I nominate Blazing Falls since it has perfect balance of everything).

We'll have a vote nearer the time, with pictures of all the cities to make sure everyone knows what they're going for. The test center city (will land before main to test out full networking, and will continue after release running on unstable builds) will likely just use Test Center or Charvatia in memory of TC3.

The idea of a Testing City seems so exciting! Can't wait to try that out.

I'm getting closer and closer to feeling the original TSO. I genuinely don't think anyone has felt, nessecarily how i feel for this, the same way i have. Its just,i've used to always sit in bed, dream of this,(Cry on my original TSO but shutdown discovery...),And now I'm getting closer to actually experience what TSO did for people. And this time,it'll even be free. I always dreamed of super personal TSO wishes. I can't tell anyone though XD. And now it could finally come. XD

EDIT:Also,Is it too much to ask,Can we get a "What's to come/What's next/Next Build features/changed/additions,etc" For the next build after one another?

I played TSO from the beta in 2002 until they shut it down in 2008, I know first hand what it felt like to lose that game, and a lot of the friends I'd made. I mourned the loss of TSO for longer than I care to admit. My biggest fear is that it won't be the same for some reason, or another. But I'm hoping for the same feel as before.

I can't predict the future, but new builds are always posted with a changelog.
