I am curious about "lots", can we will have our own lots?
Wha, have you even heard of the sims online before? Read its wiki page or look up gameplay videos or something
It will also be possible to join people in job lots manually, as they are given a temporary presence on the city server.
You're doing great work at a very fast progress RHY. I love all the little detail features your adding. it's gonna make the experience so much better. Also loving the videos.

It was just a reallllly odd question. Every single Sims game is known for the fact the player can own their own lot. It's not such a big thing in TSO since the lots that really matter are the ones where everyone used to go to skill or do pizza jobs or whatever.Rude, anyway I asked this because I dont know how exactly gameplay is. I dont played original game before and I dont know how it works, I am really happy to see this project is happening and I am curious about it. Thats all.
In this video I show the online jobs matchmaker working on the global server. I also manage to confuse myself by playing two robot factories at the same time...
Job experience, status etc are all carried into the database correctly. I've disabled consuming the parts in this video because I was low motives, but that works too. The correct job lot is chosen based on the type and grade of the sim asking the server to match them into a job lot.
It will also be possible to join people in job lots manually, as they are given a temporary presence on the city server.
That's not a scalable solution (we might need 5 grade 1 lots at one point), and it would let people put really stupid lots next to the job lots to mess with their surroundings. I'm not sure if that could work correctly.
I'll think about it, but there are still severe issues. This could likely be implemented after a server is deployed, as it will need to use the instancing anyways to do the "only shows your job lot" effect. Instancing may also become complex since some requests would ask TO CREATE the job lot in the specific location, whereas other people would be doing the normal way of asking the matchmaker to choose ANY job lot that is readily available. This could cause an issue where someone joins a random job lot, only to discover that someone opened another job lot in a specific location that gets 3 players, whereas they're stuck by themselves because they're not on the location specific lot.Sure that could happen, but if you'd be a bit more optimistic people could build some really great places around the work places too, so it could also be a very great thing.
The advantage is you can make challenges to create different lvl lots, to spice it up a little and not have like 5 lvl 1 lots looking all the same.
The other options would be:
"Link lots": So only put 1 robot factory on the map. If you're level 1, you'll see level 1, if you're level 2 you only see level two. But still put 5 places there, so people can (if they want to) choose where they want to go.
Putting job lots on the map would make it possible for working people to meet and choose a place before worktime.
One more question: Are you planing to let all 3 sims be online at the same time in the same city? That could lead very fast to cheating, like in TSO back than where people logged in with different accounts at the same time. etc.
too bad its only Monday...Throwback thursday to when me, Rhys, TSOMatt and someone else whose memory alludes me, burned down one of the restaurants for lols. Ahhh good times.
Good, private servers should not exist anyways, more player base for the global servers.Based from the videos seems MMO Server will change a lot of things, and will make private server not functional..
