I play on vanilla wow server Elysium if any of you know what that is. I was just curious if playing on Free so would be just as safe. I mean I don't wanna download any viruses or anything. another thing that concerns me is the connection. Is there a way to make sure that I am not hosting anything?

If you want to take a more empirical approach to test you aren't hosting anything, you should be able to see that the game uses very little outgoing bandwidth through use of monitoring tools. All lots are hosted server-side and sent out to clients connecting, who run a parallel simulation which is checked for validity against the real simulation running on the server through monitoring the random seed. Data from the client simulation is never sent to the server. Quite a few games use this model, including the original TSO.
