I think it looks fine this way, main container is centered. You don't have to have all of your screen filled with content, most websites have fixed width.I'm really fed up of websites not having a wide-screen mode; is it difficult to change "1024px" to "100%"? Please. Implement a wide-screen mode.
Yeah, and I hate it. It means that not all the space is filled, so it's a waste of space! You may as well have something there. I have wide-screen fixes for all the websites I visit, apart from YouTube because it actually suits the style. That includes GitHub, here, NSOMania, a number of forums, etc. Google does it right, and so does Mega; fill the screen with content otherwise there's no point in having a triple wide-screen monitor setup. Centered content where there's a border of ~30%+ is extremely lazy. And yes, I was inspired by Flawless Widescreen because it means I can actually utilize all of my 3 screens instead of having one screen where the content is basically portrait. It's ridiculous!I think it looks fine this way, main container is centered. You don't have to have all of your screen filled with content, most websites have fixed width.
I have 3 screens. Usually I play racing games (note the fucking name) and that's why I bought the monitors. When I'm using a browser I fill one screen with the browser and leave the rest because it's easier to read, but if it's squashed in the middle it's extremely frustrating. I've been using wide-screen mods for a while now and I find it easier to focus on because it fills the entire monitor instead of a ~1024x1080 area in the middle of the screen.1. It's easier to focus on the content when the area is not that wide. Ever read a book? Why books ain't in landscape mode?
2. If you have such big screen (or three screens, whatever), why do you fill the whole space with a browser, instead of, for example - multitasking? You'd rather have your post fit in one line across three screens? GOOD LUCK FOCUSING ON THE CONTENT
3. Which brings us to messed up, unreadable layouts, yeah!
Btw. the whole widescreen thing idea is ridiculous for anything else than movies anyway.
If enough people demand it.I'm really fed up of websites not having a wide-screen mode; is it difficult to change "1024px" to "100%"? Please. Implement a wide-screen mode.
Why?I anti-demand it.
Cause you have to move your head left and right while reading something similar to being at a cinema and watching a movie at the front row. Why?
Not if you have a reasonably-sized screen and you're sat at a reasonable distance, in which case you should be able to see the entire screen without moving your head. Otherwise, I suggest you rethink your ergonomics, setup, and position.Cause you have to move your head left and right while reading something similar to being at a cinema and watching a movie at the front row.
I anti-demand it as well.
Bending over backwards just to read a two paragraph article is not ergonomic. Not if you have a reasonably-sized screen and you're sat at a reasonable distance, in which case you should be able to see the entire screen without moving your head. I sit about half a metre away from my PC like any normal person would, and I can read articles just fine. If you're sitting closer than that, you're an idiot and you probably look like one.Bending over backwards just to read a two paragraph article is not ergonomic.
I'm near sighted. :| Now enough with the crying. You're not gonna get your way.I sit about half a metre away from my PC like any normal person would, and I can read articles just fine. If you're sitting closer than that, you're an idiot and you probably look like one.
