800px-Betaville_Map.JPG

Betaville

Expect the unexpected in Betaville, the city of innovation and surprises. Our citizens have minds of their own, and they are not afraid to show it! Whether at work or at play, you will always find someone to join you in this densely populated metropolis. No one is ever wanting for company in Betaville!

Date of Existence

Betaville was The Sims Online's only attempt at allowing players to play as Free Will sims-sims that could roam the city without the players control-players could toggle this feature to allow their sim to be on Free Will or off. Born January 13, 2005 Betaville was the beginning of something new for the players. The city also allowed for a variety of disasters to erupt-fires, floods, even electrocution! Players could also make sim families. Each family could consist of 1 up to 4 sims per player account. Players were able to play as each of these sims when existing in the city. This allowed for players to accomplish their goals much faster than in the other cities. Money could be made much faster and sims could make many more friends. After a horrible explosion-a combination of fire and electricity-Betaville was destroyed on February 21, 2008.

Who wouldn't like to call this "dreamscape" home

Date of Existence

The sharp, New York-feel of Blazing Falls began on October 12, 2002. Shortly after creation The Sims Online members quickly flooded the streets of the city. Much like Alphaville, Blazing Falls could be considered another city that never slept refusing to ever shut off it's lights. Stores, clubs, resorts, and restaurants created by players thrived in this city never refusing to stop their services until the day of February 21, 2008 when EA Land would take over.

Imagine a bedroom oceanic view and a sweeping, emerald back yard. This all could be yours in the city of Calvin's Creek.

Date of Existence

Calvin's Creek was created on October 26, 2002. The city was most famous for being nothing out of the ordinary but just a small town with many sims who were considered a tight-knit family-they all stuck together in this city. Failing to ever be anything more than small, the life of Calvin's Creek didn't last and the beat from the heart of the town eventually faded away on February 21, 2008 when it became no match for EA Land.

Or reside in the peaceful center where its placid waters are protected by the barrier reef! Charvatia, sweet Charvatia - Make it your final destination!

Date of Existence

Charvatia was considered a Lost City to many founders of The Sims Online. Having been a city that was in service for a short time years before players never expected to see that this once-lost city had found it's way back to them. Charvatia turned it's city lights back on, on February 17, 2008 as EA Land made it's way into the online world. This city soon became one of the two successing cities, a city that distroyed the lives of many other cities. Charvatia was the place for sims to meet, become friends, party, and begin lives. Charvatia was the place to be during EA Land's final days. For with the creation of EA Land and the rebirth of two Lost Cities, a land destined to destroy the others, The Sims Online would never be the same as before. On August 1, 2008, before the sun would rise, the heart of EA Land had officially stopped beating.

Dan's Grove was a beautiful city for players to begin their sim's lives, meet new sims, and party as hard as possible. This city's life size was never any match towards Alphaville or Blazing Falls but players had as much fun there for as long as it would last. For on February 21, 2008 with EA Land created this city was sentenced to death.

Dragons Cove

Friends flock from far and wide to witness the imaginative spirit that captivates the hearts of the inhabitants. If you hold on to your hopes, strive to reach your dreams, and believe nothing is impossible, then begin your journey in Dragon's Cove. But be forewarned: As a wise knightess once stated, "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and go well with ketchup!"

Date of Existence

Dragon's Cove was once a Lost City by the name of Xanadu which could be exhibited for only a short time at the beginning of the creation of The Sims Online. Xanadu was reborn as Dragon's Cove on September 15, 2004 as one more attempt to bring new features into the online game. Dragons Cove was known as the “Hard Core” city. Bringing about the toughest of ways to find money and gain skills. Every object that is used to obtain skills have lowered by percentage, making it even harder to gain skills then it was in other cities. Also every time players traveled across the city they paid a small fee but the fee was a drop in sims needs such as hunger, bladder, fun, hygiene, and all the rest. Dragon's Cove florished with rich sim life until it's death on February 21, 2008 when EA Land grew in the online garden.

East Jerome

"We're much more nicer than West Jerome" is the slogan of this humble city of industry, and the inhabitants couldn't be more right! Placid rivers and lakes, emerald pastures against dramatic cliffs make for some of the most picturesque scenery East of the Western Hemisphere. Frolic in the meadow while basking in the sunlight of East Jerome! (Not affiliated in any way with West Jerome.)

Date of Existence

East Jerome was never known as a City like many of the others-excluding Calvin's Creek-but existed more as a small, humble town buzzing with close-tied sim friendships. This peaceful utopia was created on December 27, 2002 for all players who wanted the closest glipse at a true sim friendship and family with the realest of real people also playing the game. As big as the town may have seemed the population was small enough for almost all residents to eventually meet and become friends, family, or even enemies. If drama existed everyone knew when and where it had become. Players enjoyed this town and never would allow it to die even at the brinks of it's existence. But the big love of the sims wasn't enough to keep this town intact for on February 21, 2008 East Jerome had to put it's close-bonds to rest for it was not a match against the title EA Land was after.

Unfortunately the life of Ocean's Edge never made it farther than the beach coastline for it was kicked to the sand by the city of Charvatia-the second Lost City reborn. Sim players were scarce and there were few resorts in this city and lights were soon turned off and never switched back on, on August 1, 2008.

800px-Test_Center_Map.JPG

Test Center

Welcome to the Test Center, where you can choose to live life in the fast lane with total unpredictability! This is where the newest technologies are tried and tested, blazing trails for the world of The Sims Online!

Date of Existence

Staff of The Sims Online needed one city where tests could be made on it's players. Created on November 25, 2002 Test Center threw new gifts, items, and features at it's residents. Such feautures as new objects that sims could use to make money and enjoy the game even further. Staff even gave test subjects up to 500,000 simoleans on special occasions to help the economy of the city. But one catch to this lottery sims weren't allowed to move out, becoming pernament subjects to the Test Center. Test Center's servers crashed on December 4, 2007 and didn't boot back up until June 28, 2008 becoming Test Center 3. After the revival of the city, players continued to enjoy new objects such as custom content that was soon released to the rest of EA Land from being recognized so well. The computers having never been the same from rebooting, they crashed once again on August 1, 2008 and were never brought back to life.

Hm, aside Blazing Falls and Alphaville, Oceans Edge looks a city it may be a day one launch on my own server.

I have never played TSO or EAland. But I like Alphaville because there are lots of islands.

TR

Jeez, they all look so nice! It'd be so tough to choose which one to play first, especially given that you can only choose up to three Sims to start off with.

I remember the first day I installed TSO, and logged in.... I chose Dan's Grove and entered the city with excitement, I entered a house and discovered lots of things to do.... I was new and it looked awesome! There were like 18 people, I think 20 was the limit on each property in the beginning. Everyone was "jamming" ...the more people that were jamming at a time, the more you would get per jam when you sold a jar. I had a blast, I think I played for 18hrs straight, and when mom woke me because it was late in the day... I was still half asleep, and being in the middle of being awake, and being asleep... I mumbled  "My sim's needs are down" I think she thought I was crazy... lol

LOL @ LightningSparx!

I think I have played for an entire day once, about twenty-three hours. I can't believe how addictive that game could be, especially when you start chatting away with all sorts of people while playing the game. I always preferred the 18+ because I hated censorship and limiting what I could and couldn't say. It was a blast! :)

Legacy Cities

The Legacy Cities were the twelve active cities of The Sims Online. Initially, Alphaville was the only Production City available to live in; however, with anticipated demand for more buildable space on the rise, eight more cities opened their doors to players, the most recent being Fancey Fields. In late 2004, Dragon's Cove was founded as a city with hardcore tuning and gameplay. Four months later, Betaville was created as an experimental city with Free Will and Sim families. Through all of this, the city of Test Center served not only as a place to test new and upcoming features, but also as a permanent home to many players.

I agree Frankie, I liked playing on the basis that whatever happens ....happens. Much like in real life.

I added the "Lost Cities" ...They are still there somewhere in the TSO game files, who knows... maybe we can add the to our own server options, loved the descriptions tho.

Images arn't showing for the legacy cities. Anyway, I started off in Blazing Falls and was very naive in the begining. TSO was my first MMOG in my entire life. I grasped IMing before I figured out how to talk. I went to a newbie centre first where I talked to someone who helped me, well, talk. Unfortunately, being extremly new to the game, I was also extremly shy and didn't stay on the lot long. I've since forgotten the name of it.

The rest is history. I met a lot of great friends and learned a lot of things. People were great. Very, very little drama. Even met someone who later became owner of an internet radio station for TSO I'll never forget. Was the greatest time I've had.
