Do you think the AFK timer is too short?

AFK timer seems nice for those standing around doing nothing, but it can be annoying for those skilling. Do you think those skilling should get some leeway from the timer?

It is longer than it was in TSO. All you have to do to dismiss it is click a button.

I don't thing those skilling should get any 'leeway', no. Pushing a button every 15 minutes is hardly some horrible hardship being inflicted on skillers. I'm honestly not understanding why people keep complaining about it. It doesn't interrupt our skilling or anything and anyone who is IMing or chatting isn't even at risk of missing the blessed thing.

Its a good feature - encouaging active gameplay and not people just doing AFK stuff like babysitting empty lots. When people just 'babysit' empty lots it makes it a lot harder for other lots that have active players inside it trying to attract visitors. Im still kind of suspect on how some lots can stay open for what seems like days at a time without closing with the same person inside.

Yes and they still can but need to return within 15 minutes instead of 45 minutes. You could even take the time to partially green up instead of saving it for one big Greenfest.
Getting back in and back to skilling after the AFk timer kicks you out is quick and easy so really the most you can possibly lose is 35 minutes of skilling because without the timer you'd have gotten 2 red to continue skilling and you'd be standing somewhere with your skills decaying all over the floor instead.

I do get why you feel like skilling should be treated differently.
The argument that people should not be playing when they are not able/willing to play is a valid argument. But the problem is that from a player point of view skilling isn't actually playing. It is preparation to play. Some of us do it while in "chat room" mode. Other s would rather do that prep stuff while they are doing other things so that when they are ready to PLAY they can go ahead and play.

But from the dev and admin side of it this form of skilling is playing the game and so people should be relatively present. As such asking, that we stop what we are doing and remember we've got the game running 4 times per house doesn't really seem like a big ask.

Perhaps some time in the future we'll have an option to play mini games and skill up. I'd quite like that. Then it will feel like playing to us players as well because then it might be an activity we'd choose to do (not that I can get people to noodle around on the wartable game with me. So perhaps that assumption of mine is all wrong?)
