Future Idea...

Hey, Admins, TSO fans, and others...

Since Project Dollhouse maybe well known to most of TSO fans, it isnt known to other people, for example programmers which might be READY to help, and which maybe are interested in Project Dollhouse and would be helping and supporting it in anyway. So how about posting this on a Kickstarter website or anything similar to gain attention and maybe the help of other people. Also, since the servers for the Sims database are already running have to be paid it would be also an opportunity to receive money in order to pay the servers, similar to the attempt to raise money selling T-Shirts. If this idea will not be interesting for any of you admins or a good idea than, would it be also a nice thing to have a nice track of the progress and what the current status of Project Dollhouse, maybe in a weekly livestream on Twitch or anyother plattform, which would also make the people more interested and which could also possibly receive a programmers attention who would be willing to support and help the project using his programming skills. It is also sad for me as a long user in this forum, to see how kind of dead some sections in the forums are and how unupdated the news on the websites are. I dont want to be blaming anybody or saying that a bad job is done by the admins, its just that I wanted to share my opinions and ideas to the rest of our Project Dollhouse community and to maybe gain some attention by Afr0 and possibly other admins and current people working on the game.

I think the best moment for all that The Hype stuff would be when there is some gameplay actually happening. For now, devs have too many more serious issues to deal with and not enough people/time/both to take care of publicity and all that.

I honnestly agree with BloodFighter ideas. Project Dollhouse is not the only project in developpement I am following. The others are from independant developpers too. Sometimes, they post a livestream on twitch and we can watch the new things, the great stuff they do. On average 1 livestream a month.
Kickstarter sounds a bit ambitious to me, we probably don't have enough to show to the public. But it's still a great idea. (not sure if copyright infringement is respected if you ask money on a EA franchise) But anyway, I think publicity is a part of the work. We need support by players, programmers and anyone interested in the game.
I also think the forum (and the website) could be more pleasant if it simply uses few Sims elements. Like icons, buttons, typefaces, pictures?
And finally I am wondering if the name "Project dollhouse" is really effective for people looking on the internet to look for a Sims online game.
Don't you think this project should have a name with "Sims" inside? or a better reference to the Sims game?

Isn't that like illegal or something?

Isn't that like illegal or something?

Can someone know about that?
In my opinion, it is possible. Even more if you don't use 'The Sims Online' exact terms which is probably still registered as a EA product. But maybe 'The New Sims Online' or 'The Sims Online: Welcome back!' Would be better, i dont know lol (any idea?). And a logo seems to be essential to identity the game.

Are you sure?
I have few examples of developpers remaking a game that has been shut down too... and they are using the same name than the original one. They just added a word to dissociate it from the original game which was a mmo from Disney. They simply retired the Disney logo and made a disclaimer to tell it was roiginally made by Disney but it's now "a fan made" game.
if it's too risky, we can always make a brainstorming to find a name more associated to the Sims universe. I am not saying "Project dollhouse" is a bad name, i'm just saying it can be anything. We don't even know if it's online.

I like names like OpenTTD and NIOTSO, which only reference the original by abbreviation. I think names like those might be safer, but also more specific than a different name altogether.

Project Dollhouse references the original game by using the same codename. The Sims had several, including "Project X", "Project Dollhouse" and "Tactical Domestic Simulator". None of these are trademarked.
I'm not neccessarily against changing the name, but now is not the time. Rhys and me already agreed it's too early to attract more attention. That includes changing the names, running live Twitch streams or YouTube videos. There's already waayyy too much to do, and working on community and promotion takes too much time away from what makes the project interesting for us in the first place: development.

Ha ha... "Tactical Domestic Simulator" always makes me chuckle, I mean, Imagine if they actually named it that? :p (Sorry if this is too off topic.)

What also might be a cool "Future Idea" would be to implement a message saying that this user has exited The Sims Online/Project Dollhouse. (When trying to send a message to them)
