Giving birth to a child?

Basically, for a high-relationship couple, give them the interaction to "Procreate" while both resting on the same double bed. After that is done, a npc sim is created. By randomization, one of the parent gets the option to control the sim and give the access for the spout to do that either or not. Simple, right? This would just have a fun roleplay aspect to the game.

Hmmmm... procreation sounds like interesting and viable concept, but it probably needs more than just child mesh and an npc...
How do you suggest NPC child interacts with other sims? It cannot chat nor be as nearly fun as the sims played by people. I don't really see the benefit. If you want to have a child, you can use that child mesh as an age group for other players to play as. That way adoption houses can make their way into the game.

The only problem with that is that child meshes are tied with original Sims game and were never part of original Sims Online, which means copyright problems.

I think all of these NPC ideas are just missing the mark with what Free SO needs right now. Perhaps they are useful at one time, but I feel things like Custom Content (especially if we can have custom content with new animations and object use added) must be the focus.

I do not see any indication that exploring new NPC ideas is distracting anyone from other ideas. It is entirely possible that these ideas could interest or motivate someone into learning how to create the things you are more interested in. Plus exploring these idea may help people learn to flesh ideas out into design docs. So, personally, I think tossing all kinds of ideas around while waiting for animators, artists and other creators to find us, step up, or learn up Who knows? Some may already be working on things and just have not posted about it. I certainly have not posted about everything I am trying to do.

Yeah you're on the money mate. I was just remarking on the fact that I doubt it will be a priority and I remember how Betaville flopped. I'm into game dev for other games I remember certain features (like NPC's) being very sought after, but when we got them in it would not as useful as someone would think for the daily gameplay. Think romance lots versus money lots. But yeah anyway I wasn't trying to discourage anyone from discussing it my bad.

You are absolutely right. They definitely path they are on of making decorations that happen to be NPCs.
What I was trying (and failing) to say was more of a suggestion to nudge off of that path and onto one that would avoid falling into that old traps.
I admit I'd be pretty surprised if that can be done with the children idea as their primary value in the other sims games is turn-over; They allow a player to watch a family line grow and change, which is, of course, not a feature of this game.

Oh sorry. I should have said it's a baby, my bad lol. This infant sim could basically be an object or like a minor pets. Like a plate, you can carry it aroud the house and "put it down" to places.

This baby would provide fun and social fulfillment, especally when the lot is empty and you don't want to go out to another lot to green social with another irl player. I guess it's benefitial for anti-social/introverts (at times obviously).

Lol, right now I can hear neighbors baby screaming. Right timing!

Can't think of any other use it could have, other than giving a room score, lol.

That's probably easy to make then.... few sprites for animation, interaction for shusshing, gaining social... I think those things will be done as CC...
