Hello everyone

So, hi. First of all, I'm a big fan of The Sims (even if it isn't in my top-10 favorite games, but anyway...). I'm a Brazillian, so I can't played the The Sims Online when it was active. However, I found videos and info, the projects trying to recreate, the wiki in niotso, etc. But I'm still a little confuse with some things, so, if possible, I would like to someone came and say the answer or saying "hey, you can't talk about this because RULES", etc. In a chronological order:

1 - Pre-Alpha Disc

Every time that I found a game that I love, I start a research about his prototypes/alphas/betas. Some of then, unfortunately, aren't available to download (Shadow of the Colossus early Betas, Diablo 1 betas, and many others). But there are others that are (like Doom, Doom 3, Crash Bandicoot, and others). I know that there is a Pre-Alpha disc of The Sims Online. I put the care for betas in first place, so I want to know if there is a way that I can get the files/disc/etc. As I said: first for being part of the "beta universe".

2 - The Sims Online x EA Land

Alright, so is there some HUGE difference between these? I mean: TSO was better, EA Land still the TSO with the name changed....

3 - Projects

- Have any project capable of emulate, even a little, the original game?

- These "recreations projects": is there one that have all the things that was in the others? (like, wich one is the most complete, but also 'the other have this interesting stuff...' ).

- What the main project still need to came "released"?

Sorry if anything above was a dumb/wellknow question, but I'm new to this world, and I wanna help this kind of project/community in the future.

I'm not sure if you could get a Pre-Alpha disc. Sure, Fatbag got it somehow, but he's not sharing it, really.

EA Land was basically TSO with all cities being merged into one big map, custom content support and some changes to the engine like DX9 port - I hope I'm not messing things up, it was really a long time ago. :D There was even a server where you could play for free, if you didn't mind playing unstable, beta versions of the game.

Well, you could just play FreeSO, we had quite a few online play-tests already. You could also have some fun playing offline, building lots and stuff. Simulation works, mostly, except for some crashes. Yeah, basically FreeEspresso FreeSO is the one that has most of the stuff running.

well, is this kind of "have and don't share" that I get sad when I see (Warcraft Adventures have this thing too). Well, I would like if he, at least, put the files on betaarchive (I don't know if they have, but I guess not). There, it will be safe.

Which one the community enjoy more: the original The Sims Online or the EA Land?

I will check the projects later (programming interests).

He's not? o_O
Well that's news to me, since he was nice enough to give me a copy of the Pre-Alpha version, so I could mess with it a little...
That being said I would understand if he isn't sharing those files anymore and I wouldn't really encourage him to release them anywhere, but that would be his choice to make!

Other than that, pisarz is right. EA-Land was basically just a more mature version of TSO that had every city combined in one map and supported basic custom content.
Since there was a bit more stuff and more features in EA-Land, I would call it the better version of the two, though this shouldn't be a surprise since I see TSO as some kind of 0.x release and EA-Land as 1.0...

FreeSO and ProjectDollhouse are the only two active projects as of right now (at least the only to active ones I know of), there have been other attempts but a lot never made any real progress at all or have been made just to collect money in the form of donations.

The only TSO that's on beta archive is the TSO New and Improved that I put on there.

???
I'm not sure what you mean. We're using the New & Improved version that we are because it can still be downloaded legally from EA servers, even though EA-Land includes some extra objects.

Someone mentioned the possibility of TSO's pre-alpha being on BetaArchive, so I said that the only version of TSO on BetaArchive is the N&I client, which is the one I uploaded.
