[LEGACY]How to join a server and install FreeSO

I installed TSO, extracted FreeSO into the TSOCleitn directory, the extra packing slips, updated my graphics drivers, installed OpenAL, and I'm getting this error.

Apologies, the build setup is a little bit of a mess right now so the servo builds aren't outputting everything they need to.

Freeso.org is a non-existent server, and it appears you got the IP from my server list. The IP there is a placeholder and shouldn't be used. I'm going to upload my dynamic server list in a couple of days once I have my server hardware, but you'll just have to wait for that :)
Check the forums for servers that are up, if there aren't any you can follow my guide. There are also other guides and a server list on this page, so I advise you look there if you don't know what you're doing.
Also, welcome to the community! :) (Sorry I'm late)

I got crash.
I just run freeso.exe and I have this.

[EDIT]
Ok, I forgot download packing slips. I also download bass.dll and this start.

[EDIT 2]
After few seconds I got another crash...

It's the error that you should ignore and just keep going. You should be able to interact with the game, just move that window out of sight so it won't disturb you (am I right?)

I slightly updated the guide, also, i'm back! Sorry for being so inactive these days :p
EDIT: Oh, and thanks for updating the guide while i was absent :D

I need help with the 3rd step. I must be a total noob 'cause I've been googling this for hours and it looks like I'm the only one who doesn't know how to get past it (that or my googling abilities are just awful)
So I've launched the Setup The Sims Online application like 5+ times, started an account, and then closed out of the installation when it asks for the serial key. But when I do that, it won't install the TSOClient or make the folder so I'm not sure what I should do. Most of the threads I find are about connecting to a server, but not the actual installing part

I had to take it slow, too. But i think step four is actually when you download the tsoclient. If you've done step three, just go to step four and hold your breath. The TSOclient folder should be under My Computer... c:/program files/maxis/the sims online/TSOclient. In that folder is where i keep forgetting the .exe file is. FreeSO.exe. You can do it!

Im not the developer tho, so that's just what i personally would do next while i waited for an official reply.

My gameplay is weird and my sim doesn't really interact with any objects. If I pick up a newspaper and put it down, it still looks like he's carrying on with a newspaper stuck to his hand. He can turn on the stereo, but there is no music. His green bars are always at 50% and never go up or down, even if he eats or uses the bathroom. Is this normal for freeso at this point in time? He also walks thru walls sometimes.

Use the latest lot-serialize build, as you might be desyncing if you're connected to a server.

The problem I'm having is that I don't even have a folder. I even checked the install directory when I ran the setup so that I made sure I wasn't checking for the files in the wrong spot. If I create the folder myself, drag the client into it, then launch freeso.exe, I get a popup that says "Error TSO was not found on your system." I know I'm missing files because step 6 mentions an existing packingslips directory, which I don't have

You can download it from Un4Seen:
http://www.un4seen.com/download.php?z/4/Bass24.Net.zip

Then copy it from the install directory to TSO file path :)

There are like 2 rules here:
  1. Don't be stupid, follow the basic human conduct
  2. No signatures over 200px
- that's pretty much it. Don't worry about anything else, but I advise you don't attack Rhys, as it will not end well.
I say that from experience; I was banned for it about 18 months ago ;)
