It did I quit then read the steps di the steps but it didnt work so Im giving up not worth trying anymore I cant ask my dad cause his hands shake so Im trying to teach myself how to do it but still cant get it to work so yup I give up

Make sure your drag the content of this (press login as guest) .zip into 'The Sims Online' folder.

Try running it in administrator mode (right click and select run in admin as administrator), otherwise you've probably not put Freeso in the right place.

It shouldn't ask you to log in. Make sure you're running the game from FreeSO.exe not TSO.exe- if you can't find FreeSO.exe then you haven't installed it correctly, make sure you've emptied the .zip in the same place as the game is installed.

edit - make sure you have OpenAL installed too https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip

Update: I found out I have to do something with Openal, but I don't know what yet.

Apparently you dont installed Microsoft XNA.
 
Hello, i'm having a problem with installing the sims online. I have downloaded the setup and when i click on it, it should be installing sims online right? not for me, a message pops up and says "there was an error downloading the manifest. the downloader must quit now." and then it quits. BUT i get a the sims online setup file. wiiiiith nothing in it.. i am using chrome and i have updated my graphics card, and it still wont work. help.

UPDATE: hi! yeah, so the problem was that i had windows 8. so i updated it and got windows 10! thanks for the help! :D

When you download the file from the EA website, you should get the file 'Setup The Sims Online.exe'. When you open it, it should start downloading the game which will take like 15-20 minutes. If it doesn't start downloading, try running it as admin. If that doesn't work, maybe your antivirus or firewall is blocking it (but I doubt it).

1.Download The Sims Online from Here: http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/tso/Setup The Sims Online.exe

3.Follow the installation steps, when it asks you for a CD Key cancel the installation

5.Extract the Dist ZIP file with WinRAR, WinZIP or any other compression/decompression program on The Sims Online installation directory(Usually C:/Program Files/The Sims Online/TSOClient)
6.Extract the extra packing slips from here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12239448/packingslips.rar to The Sims Online installation directory, into the existing packingslips directory.
7.If the game doesn't work, try downloading updated Graphics Drivers and OpenAL or connecting a sound device (speakers, headphones, etc.)

Joining a server:

1.Look for servers on one of these pages(Or get the server IP/Address from the server owner):
1.Once you have the IP/Server address copied or written, open FreeSO.exe in your TSOClient folder in your TSO installation directory(Make sure the server uses the same dist/version as you)
2.Open FreeSO.exe
3.Create your Sim/Avatar(No need to create it every time you launch the game, it will get saved)

4.Click the "Search Icon"

6.Now click on exact match and wait!

Tips/Troubleshooting:
1. If while connecting to the server the bar gets stuck at 0%, maybe the server is closed or using a different version, also check if you wrote the address correctly
2. If it gets stuck at 25%, wait longer, try updating the version or restart the game
3. Not working? Try downloading updated Graphics Drivers and OpenAL or connecting a sound device (speakers, headphones, etc.)

I cant find the foler in program files or program files 86
 
So I've followed the directions to the best of my abilities, packets and everything, but whenever I attempt to start the game up this error shows up. Any idea on how to fix this?
