Hello everyone,
I have been absolutely hooked on this game for some weeks now. I love it, and was having a lot of fun. After this patch I have seen that the game is already suffering. I have spoken to many other experienced sims, and have come to the conclusion that this is a fatally flawed system, and the game is going to suffer. I get the pros and cons to the decay patch;
Pros:
- Need to focus on a skill, so specializing in a skill will be more rare, and more teamwork will be necessary.
- Will increase the demand to keep playing actively.
Cons:
- The playerbase is not large enough to keep up this skilling. There is not enough lots open for each skill. (For instance, there has not been anyone studying mech since the patch, so my skill is decaying away, and I can't stop it unless I study 30% and let my other skills die).
- Other sims that were actively running lots cannot sit around hosting all the time, because their skills will also decay, so I have seen less lots open.
- The majority of skilling is done AFK, so now you are asking for more than half of the gameplay to be AFK skilling, with little to no interaction. The game is already getting more boring after only a few days. The die-hards will stay, but the new players will be turned off by this... It's just not that fun to sit AFK all the time.
As you can see, the pros will outweigh the cons with this system... I already can feel that this is happening. I can't study mech because the mech owner is at a cooking skill house all day keeping his skills up... So slowly the sim world will die out, I already have seen where I don't have anything to do and just get off. You are gearing the game towards AFK skilling, and that won't keep people coming back for very long. I would like to have a discussion about this, because I have found myself more bored in the last 2 days than the first 3 weeks combined. I suggest that the skill decay is slowed down, so that people can still host and just hang out and not lose hard earned skills so quickly because the playerbase is too small to merit such a fast skill decay...
Thank you for your time,
Max.
