OK This may work or may not work

I'm gonna host a server on FreeSO #121

the ip is simsonline.zapto.org

whether this will work or not work I don't know
I will post an additional comment when I will attempt to host :3

Right now, this is what I get:

Even though the client has become much more stable, I won't be doing future play tests until the login and city server is merged into the master branch. My server will be hosted on zackcasey.me. I can't handle the P2P-like hosting when I'm the host. xD

I know this is taking it up 11. There won't be any forums, though, but support will be maintained on my side with Q&A software, similar to Stack Exchange. That's it. Discussion of TSO, ect, remains here. No need to feel like the community have to commit itself to two forums.

This will all get recapped again in a separate thread covering more detail when things ready. Just letting you all know now.

So, I'm not sure what's going on now, but will the public release only have one main server, or multiple private servers (and perhaps official servers) you can connect to?

I'm assuming the FreeSO project will be advertised as the only server. I don't know. Past arguments with the former maintainer said he'll do anything to stop private servers. I don't know with Rhys. Multiple servers are inevitable, though.

If this is open source, I'm sure it's not too hard for an experienced programmer to code an emulator, or whatever you want to call it.

It's open source. Client and server. Which is why I never understood the former maintainer's antics to derail any attempts at other servers. I decided to have Q&A software because I realized adding yet another forum would split the community up more yet another TSO server.

We can't stop multiple servers, but it's also ultimately pointless to divide the community for an mmo.
The solution:
Run official servers in different regions (NA, EU, etc). Other users can run private servers, but you only support your own. This is pretty much how a lot of MMOs are.
