Renaming Your Sim This feature allows you to rename your Sims from the Select-A-Sim screen, rather than having to request it from Customer Service. It is free, and you are allowed to rename each avatar once every seven days. Names must be unique for each city, and follow the usual guidelines. The Rename screens will inform you of any problems and let you try again if needed. How it Works:
- From the Select-A-Sim screen, clicking on the Sim name above your Sim’s picture will bring up the rename screen. This is where you type in the new name and click the Accept button to submit the new name request to the server.
- The rules for renaming your Sim are the same as those for creating a new Sim, and the rename dialog will make sure your name is legal before it allows you to submit it.
- Once the name is submitted, the server will perform additional validation tests, and check to see if the name is available on this city.
- If the rename was successful, you’ll find yourself back at the Select-A-Sim screen, with the new name showing above your Sim.
- If the rename was not successful, it will usually be because the name you chose was already taken by someone on this city, or else you tried to rename the same Sim without waiting at least 7 days. You will remain at the rename screen until you either succeed, or cancel the request using the Close button.
- The 7 day waiting period for renaming is separate for each sim, so you can rename all your sims on the same day if none of them have been renamed within the last 7 days.
