What If EA Finds Out About This?

I honestly don't think they give a crap but what if EA finds out about this?
We all (hopefully) know how the TSOR project went and.. well.. this is non-profiting so will anything happen?
Also, are ALL the files deleted from TSOR or has Project Dollhouse / NIOTSO acquired some of it? Since that probably would / has helped alot.

It could be very bad if they do. TSOR also was asking for money "Donations" towards the end so that could have raised an eye for EA. With the incentive to play the play test first. Since Project Dollhouse is more open and "All for one and one for all" they might not make a big deal about it. I don't know if any of the work from TSOR was salvageable. Regardless Rock on Project House/ Afr0 :p :!: :!: :!:

Yeah, taking paid for something that they dont own the rights for is kind of.. illegal I guess.
Lets hope that it never happens!

It's legal for PD to do this.
They made a deal with EA!

No, we did not. I think I've already answered this somewhere, but basically, the gist of it is this:

  1. EA doesn't care, so long as noone is earning money off of the game's assets. If they did care, they would have let us know a long time ago.
  2. Even if they did care, there's not much they can do. Writing and distributing code to interact with fileformats has never been illegal, nor will it ever be.

So basically if you dont charge us to play it, its okay? :D

Correct. There's also a very detailed explanation to this at the NioTSO site. :)

So that means I can make my own TSO clone if it is called something different and if it was for free?

If by "clone" you mean writing code to interact with EAs fileformats, then yes.
Like using the original files for TSO but making something to interact with it?
