Squee! I really love the lighting and feel of this day night cycle as well the lighting.

Also a little comparison of old and new. This is the old. And we already got our new one soon.

Working on lighting right now, right now everything is reading from room 0 (outside) and the lighting colour is a bit extreme (and sunrise/set last too long). I'm using a 256x256 texture for the room ambient light colours, which should be filled with colours computed from the room lighting contribution.

Cool Rhys, how do you started lighting so fast, is really simple or what have you done?? That colors seems to allow have some kind of weather..

Now it's possible to know when it's night and everything! Lights should follow you into rooms you enter, but the TSO update value for this has been tweaked to be surprisingly infrequently. Will upload changes after some cleanups and implementation for the sim.
Day and Night cycle is already nearing completion? Wow that was fast and It looks great!
 
Oh good lord the progress is amazing. I like how this has MORE features than the TSO had (advanced lighting systems, more than 2 stories etc.) Very cool Rhys, I can't wait to get playing this. I hope you can do even MORE fun stuff.

There's apiece about the "Coming Soon" buttons in the Property Mode. So I think the lighting system in TSO was in some ways implement but unfinished.

That was I was going to ask about! Are the Lighting options going to be active at anytime in development @RHY3756547 ?
 
Remember that lighting was part of the original game, the only change here is the fine grained outside colour and the blending with inside colours. In future I'm going to be experimenting with optional per pixel lighting on objects, with possible shadow maps abusing low detail models generated from the z buffers exclusively for sunlight. Direct shadowed light would cast through windows and doors, and would obviously provide the house and outside objects with shadows.

More complicated lighting will prove a challenge, especially for outside areas with many lights. The original game uses a combination of gradient sprites to light the ground and walls around light, which is one option but makes little sense with modern technology and kind of hand waves any kind of object lighting (was too expensive to do with cpu rendering).

Fixed diagonals. The old z issue is still present with the diagonal tiles there, but that will be resolved in a future _2DWorldBatch refactor. This work will also lead to fixing routing when sims are standing on diagonals.
 
#182 Version.. Not sure if it's the game or my PC Laptop, but she was cooking and went to grab the food off the stove and the whole game froze.. no error though ... it just freezes :/ Twice now.
 
I missed that feature so much. It looks quite amazing on these screenshots, @RHY3756547 and @zc456. Kinda makes the whole game world feel a bit more real. More complex lighting effects would be also cool. Sure, eye-candy, but really cool eye-candy I suppose. :D

I remember a build breaking MP for the time being,is 182 MP Compatible again?
 
Yes, though I would recommend using 183 when that comes out. Fixes a problem with moving objects constantly stopping/jankifying routes. (robot factory, flies object, carpool, cannon)

I suppose it could be something on my end, since I already got some random glitches like transparency not working properly in UI etc.

I've also experienced this type of glitch. For me it happened on food items, like meals from the buffet table. Though it fixed itself pretty quickly.
 
It's funny, cause in my case, it's like if the only thing lit properly in the room was a sim. Entering restaurant lot is funny too, the whole thing is dark and suddenly there are "glowing" sims inside xD
